Medias - Romania
Romania is one of the poorest states in the EU. Going to Medias will be a hands-on experience in working with the poor, and also an opportunity to see the beauty and culture of Transylvania.
The YWAM staff here run a ministry called Restore Ministry Romania, operating in a centre just outside the city of Medias. Much of the ministry here is focused on working with kids and youth, particularly among the Roma population in the surrounding villages. Their heart is to end the cycle of poverty that is passed on from generation to generation.
Support the long-term work in Medias by serving in practical ways.
Opportunities might include helping to run after school programmes, facilitate kids and youth meetings, and sharing testimonies or teaching in local churches. Many of the children and youth that attend the meetings are not Christians so these programmes are definitely an important means of evangelism. There will also be time in the schedule to pray for the nation and its people, and to serve in some practical areas either at the centre or in the local area. Teams are often housed on a camp site in a nearby village, around a 30 minute drive from the centre. On their day off, the team will likely visit the beautiful medieval town of Sighisoara, to take in the local sights and enjoy some delicious pizza.
